Arsenal are ready to bolster their Premier League title bid, by bidding £42.7m for Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain.
According to the Metro, the Serie A side have previously wanted around £66.9m for the 27-year-old, but are now more keen to sell, so will accept offers considerably below their original valuation.
The Metro suggest that the Argentinian would like to leave Stadio San Paolo this summer. And with Napoli’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, it’s possible that playing in Europe’s premier competition is a reason for his discontent, which may tempt him towards the Emirates.
And although Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have looked strong up front when they have played, doubts remain about whether they are capable of leading the line for a side challenging for the top honours. Higuain on the other hand, has dealt with the pressure of playing for Real Madrid, and has won three league titles with Los Blancos, so is capable of ending their title drought.
