The England international will now earn £100,000 a week at the Emirates.
The 26-year-old could be competing with Karim Benzema for a place in Arsene Wenger’s side next season, after the Metro reported that the Gunners have increased their bid for the Frenchman.
Their first offer of £31m was reportedly rejected by Los Blancos, but they are prepared to go back in with a bid of £35.3m.
Arsenal have also received a boost in their hopes of signing Barcelona prospect Sergi Samper, after the Metro suggested that he wished to move away from the Nou Camp.
The 20-year-old is reportedly keen on a move due to a lack of first-team opportunities.
The Gunners are planning to scupper Tottenham’s bid to sign Lyon forward Clinton N’Jie, according to the Metro.
Spurs had made a £7m bid for the 21-year-old, but may miss out to their bitter rivals.
However, both north London sides look set to miss out on Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after the Gabon international revealed that he plans to stay with the Bundesliga outfit, according to the Daily Star.
