Arsenal have reportedly made an enquiry into the availability of Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to the Daily Star.
The Greek international is represented by super agent, Mino Raiola, and reports in Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport are claiming that the Gunners have made contact with him over the possibility of bringing the player to the Premier League.
Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in Manolas, but the arrival of Toby Alderweireld on Wednesday means they are no longer in the hunt for reinforcements in the heart of their defence.
Arsenal are now free to pursue a move for the defender, though it is believed that Roma are not interested in selling him.
Roma signed Manolas in a £10.3m deal from Greek giants Olympiacos last summer, and Arsenal will have to make a significant improvement on that number in order to be taken seriously.
The 24-year-old represents a cheaper alternative to some of the other defensive options the club have been linked with.
