Arsenal are reportedly planning to make an audacious £48m bid to land Borussia Dortmund playmaker Marco Reus, according to the Metro.
With the new Premier League season looming, and with the transfer window closing in the not too distant future, Arsene Wenger appears to be saving his chequebook until a really special talent becomes available, and Reus is certainly that.
However, he may have a difficult task of convincing the 26-year-old that he should come to The Emirates. The Daily Express previously reported that while he was flattered by speculation linking him with a move to either the north London outfit or Liverpool, he was more than happy staying at the Westfalenstadion.
With Dortmund losing Jurgen Klopp at the back end of last season however, Reus may decide that he needs a change of scenery, and the prospect of moving to Arsenal may seem an attractive proposition.
The Gunners are able to offer Champions League football, which is a competition that a player of Reus’ calibre has to be playing in.
