Popular Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported that Arturo Vidal’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, claimed to have never been in contact with Arsenal about a move for the Juventus midfielder.
The in demand star is currently helping Chile to an appearance in the final of the Copa America, and has been linked with a host of top clubs since before the previous domestic season came to a close.
However, he garnered controversy at the tournament’s infancy, when he was involved in a drunken car smash that luckily didn’t end up with anybody being hurt.
At the time, it didn’t seem to be enough to dissuade the Gunners from making a move for him, with the tabloids all professing Arsene Wenger was waiting to pounce.
But now Arsenal fans may be disappointed to learn that they were never in the running for his signature, as Felicevich is reported to have said: “For Arturo, there has been no contact with Arsenal.”
Cryptic’s have suggested that Felicevich’s way with words could mean that Juventus contacted Arsenal about a move, though it’s more than likely that this is just the way it was translated.
