Manchester United are set to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger after the midfielder agreed a three-year deal with the club, worth an estimated £7.2m a season, the Daily Mail reports.
It is believed that United boss Louis van Gaal played a major part in his decision to leave the club he has spent his entire career at, and according to German tabloid Bild he has informed the Bundesliga champions of his decision to head for the Premier League and is now set to fly to Manchester to tie up any loose ends and undergo a medical.
However, the two clubs are yet to agree on a fee for the 30-year-old. Bayern are holding out for something in the region of £15m, while United feel that is too large for a player of his age that is now in the final year of his contract.
But Bayern also aren’t going to stand in his way if he wants to leave after nearly 20 years of outstanding service.
