Spanish giants Atletico Madrid have confirmed that they have brought Brazilian international full-back Felipe Luis back to the club from Premier League champions Chelsea, the Daily Express reports.
The left-back joined The Blues last summer from Atletico in a deal worth a reported £15.8m (via the Express).
However, despite his stature in the game as one of the world’s most dynamic full-backs and his contribution to Atletico’s own title victory in 2013/14, he was unable to dislodge Cesar Azpilicueta on the left side of the defence at Stamford Bridge. He made just 26 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions.
The Madrid-based giants took to Twitter to announce the deal, welcoming the 29-year-old back to his former stomping ground with a handsome graphic and a caption that proclaimed: “#BienvenidoFilipe”.

Atletico director Jose Luis Perez Caminero said: “We all know Filipe Luis.
“We are now reinforced with one of the most talented full-backs in the world. He already knows our club and our game so we are sure that he will immediately adapt.”
Before he left to join Chelsea, Felipe Luis spent four successful seasons with Atleti, making 180 appearances, scoring six goals.
It’s likely that he will be the club’s first choice left-back once again, having arguably played his best football under Diego Simeone.
