Ajax boss Frank De Boer has admitted that the Eredivisie side will not be able to stand in Jasper Cillessen’s way, should Manchester United make a large offer for the goalkeeper, the Metro report.
According to the Metro, the Red Devils are preparing a £20m bid for the Netherlands international as they plan for the potential loss of David de Gea.
And De Boer explained that they may be unable to prevent a deal happening.
“We want to keep him and he wants to stay, but if Manchester United come with a bag of money, it can be difficult,” he suggested.
However, Cillessen may decide against moving to the Premier League summer, if the latest reports regarding both of United’s goalkeepers’ futures prove to be correct.
While Victor Valdes’ public spat with Louis van Gaal appeared to confirm that his departure would be imminent (via BBC Sport) – with the Dutchman claiming that he was set to leave following a refusal to play in the reserve side – de Gea appears set to stay for one final season (via Daily Star).
Real Madrid’s inability to make an offer means that the Spaniard will see out the final of his contract, which will allow him to make the switch for nothing next summer.
With de Gea stay to hang around for another season, Cillessen may decide that now is not the time to move on.
