Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has not done himself any favours when it comes to endearing himself to the crowds that used to cheer his name. Firstly, he joined Chelsea, and now he has reportedly convinced one of their transfer targets to snub an Emirates switch, and instead move to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Metro, his former Barcelona teammate Pedro was considering his future following the signing of Arda Turan – having already struggled to hold down a place in the side – and had offers on the table from both Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, the Metro report that the 27-year-old had reservations about a potential move to England due to his limited grasp of the language. But, Fabregas stepped in – along with Jose Mourinho – and reassured the attacker that it would not be a problem with the Blues, due to the large numbers of Spanish speakers already in the dressing room.
The Metro report that the club are now prepared to trigger his £21.7m release clause.
While all three of the interested clubs have a wealth of wingers and attacking players, the Barcelona man would certainly improve their respective squads, which is why it could be painful for Gunners fans to watch their former star player lead a potential target to one of their main rivals.
