Liverpool have set the pace in the transfer market so far this summer. With news that Christian Benteke is set to become the latest new face to join the Reds manager Brendan Rodgers now has some serious options for how he can set up his side over the next nine months.
Below, is what we feel will be Liverpool’s strongest starting XI for the 2015/16 season.
GK: Simon Mignolet
The Belgian recovered from an early season wobble to reaffirm his status as the club’s undisputed first choice goalkeeper.
RB: Nathaniel Clyne
A new face and the England international should represent a dramatic improvement on predecessor Glen Johnson.
CB: Martin Skrtel
The Slovakian has penned himself a new three-year deal, and with good timing too as he is undoubtedly the club’s best centre-back.
CB: Mamadou Sakho
The Frenchman hardly covered himself in glory last season, but still represents a safer bet than Dejan Lovren.
LB: Joe Gomez
Rodgers had initially intended to send the new boy out on loan, but after his fine displays in Australia the manager has apparently changed his mind and will give him his chance to impress.
