Liverpool could be set to trigger their second release clause in a day by making a move for Barcelona winger Pedro, according to the Metro.
After selling Raheem Sterling to Manchester City for £49m (via BBC) the Reds are keen to reinvest the cash on bolstering their attacking options.
Earlier on Thursday, news broke that Liverpool will meet the £32.5m buyout clause of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke (via BBC) and now a report on Spanish website Sport claims that they will follow that up by triggering Pedro’s release clause as well.
Pedro confirmed this week that the La Liga champions had agreed to lower his asking price from £110m to just £21.4m (via the Metro) when he renewed his deal with the club and Liverpool are now keen to match that price and bring him to Anfield.
Chelsea had been favourites to land his signature, but they aren’t as keen on meeting his valuation.
However, a move for the 27-year-old may have to be put on ice until after the weekend when the outcome of the Barcelona presidential race becomes clearer (via Daily Express).
