Here is Monday’s news and gossip concerning Liverpool:
The Reds are planning an audacious bid for Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze, who reportedly wants to leave the Allianz Arena, according to the Metro.
The World Cup winner is valued at £49.6m, which may tempt the Merseyside outfit as they received £49m for Raheem Sterling.
Meanwhile, Christian Benteke will undergo his medical later this afternoon ahead of his move from Aston Villa, Sky Sports reports.
The Belgian will move to Merseyside for £32.5m.
Despite Benteke’s arrival, Brendan Rodgers remains keen on striking a deal for Fiorentina forward Mario Gomez, the Daily Express report.
The former Bayern man had been linked with a move to Besiktas, but his agent confirmed that nothing has been agreed.
They could be about to miss out on another target however, with the Daily Star reporting that Manchester United are set to make the opening offer for Barcelona winger Pedro.
The Star suggest the offer will be between £17.4m and £20.2m, and is likely to be accepted by the Catalan giants.
Finally, new Manchester City signing Patrick Roberts revealed that he rejected a move to Liverpool, despite supporting the club as a boy, the Daily Mail report.
