Liverpool are planning to make an audacious bid for Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah, after the Egyptian stalled on returning to Fiorentina on loan, the Daily Express report.
The Express report that the midfielder had agreed an 18-month contract with the Serie A side. However, his refusal to return has attracted the attention of Brendan Rodgers, and the Reds have reportedly made the first contact about the player. The Express suggest however, the 23-year-old wants to move to Inter Milan.
But, one stumbling block to any potential deal will be Fiorentina’s reaction to his snub of the final year of his loan spell. The Express report that Liverpool are holding off on any concrete bid as they expect the Premier League champions to be sanctioned.
The Daily Express report however, that legal action may be prevented should Chelsea send another player to La Viola in Salah’s place, which may then result in the Reds’ interest materialising into a bid.
Although he struggled at Stamford Bridge, the former Basle man shone in Italy for the second half of last season. The speculation linking him with other clubs would suggest however, that he still has not done enough to be considered as part of Jose Mourinho’s plans.
That may play into Liverpool’s hands, as the Blues may have little reservations about letting him go to a side in the same division.
And while fans of the Merseyside outfit may have written off their chances of getting a player like Salah before this window, their dealings during this window may give supporters confidence that he could soon be a Red.
