Manchester United are hoping to round off a busy window by spending all of their remaining budget on trying to bring Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller to Old Trafford.
According to the Metro, Louis van Gaal currently has £70.7m left to spend this summer, and has instructed the movers and shakers at the club to use it to secure a deal for the Germany forward.
The Metro report that having lost Bastian Schweinsteiger, Pep Guardiola is desperate to keep the majority of his side together, and so it may take something special for him to even entertain the idea of accepting a bid for the 25-year-old.
However, this startling offer may be enough to convince Guardiola to let him move on. The Metro previously reported that the pair had fallen out, and so he may decide that letting him leave may be the best thing, especially if their rift continues, and causes friction in the Bavarian side.
Bayern’s loss could be United’s gain, and would complete an excellent summer for van Gaal. As well as Schweinsteiger, the Dutchman has added Memphis Depay and Morgan Schneiderlin in midfield. In Muller, they would have a player that is capable of playing in the Red Devils’ midfield, or can help Wayne Rooney out in attack.
