Manchester United are now confident that they will be able to seal a deal for Sergio Ramos, after they increased their offer for the Real Madrid defender.
According to the Metro, the Premier League side have already had a bid of £32m rejected for the 29-year-old, but have now upped that offer to £41.9m.
However, the Daily Star‘s previous report would suggest that that bid may not bring them anymore success than their first offer, as Los Blancos want £63.5m for the man who has recently been appointed the new club captain following Iker Casillas’ departure (via Star).
The Metro suggest that Madrid are interested in David de Gea, but Louis van Gaal is not willing to let his key man leave unless Ramos heads to Old Trafford. However, the stalemate on a potential swap looks set to remain after the Dutchman confirmed that Victor Valdes will be heading for the exit (via BBC Sport).
Should the former Barcelona man leave, it is unlikely that United will be prepared to let de Gea go also, which may see the La Liga side dig their heels in until they get an offer that matches up to the asking price.
