Manchester United are believed to have approached Spanish giants Real Madrid over a deal to sign former star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports in the Metro.
The Red Devils are believed to be in the market for a marquee signing this summer to wrap up their current transfer activity, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent comments about leaving the La Liga big guns has put him at the top of their list.
Reports close to the club are now claiming that United have approached Real with an initial offer of £60m for their former fan favourite, though they are preparing themselves for rejection as the Spaniards are looking for a fee closer to the region of £84.5m.
United aren’t thought to be willing to go that high for him, though, as he turns 31 in February, though there is a chance that they could still use goalkeeper David de Gea as bait after seeing the Sergio Ramos deal fall through.
