Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is close to sealing an exit from the club as The Guardian understands that he has already agreed personals terms on a move to Fenerbahce.
The report claims that the Dutchman’s agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul for the past two days, where he has been locked in talks with the Super Lig giants over a summer transfer.
The 31-year-old, who had fallen out of favour at Old Trafford last term, is believed to have already agreed a deal to join the club, and is now ready to sign a four-year deal.
Van Persie and initially been wary about moving to Turkey, as he didn’t want to uproot his young family, but his wife has now warmed to the idea after spending a week in the city herself.
Former international colleague and Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt is also believed to have played a part in helping the deal along, after he convinced the striker to follow his lead and head over. Kuyt, who joined Fenerbahce in 2012, bagged 37 goals in 128 appearances for there club, winning the Super Lig, the Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup in the process.
