Manchester United are reportedly closing in on their fifth signing of the summer, after it was claimed that they had agreed a fee with Benfica for the transfer of Nicolas Gaitan.
According to the Daily Star, the Argentinian will move to Old Trafford for £21m, but only once his countryman Angel Di Maria completes his move away from the club. The Star report that Paris Saint-Germain look the most likely to snap up the former Real Madrid man.
Gaitan would follow Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Morgan Schneiderlin, who have all joined the Premier League side this summer.
The deal for the 27-year-old represents something of a bargain for the exciting player. Sky Sports report that the midfielder has a release clause of £35m, which has previously prevented the Old Trafford outfit from making a bid. However, the Portuguese champions’ financial concerns has forced their hand regarding United’s latest offer, Sky Sports suggest.
