Manchester United have been put on alert after reports suggested that potential target Thomas Muller’s future at Bayern Munich has become unclear.
According to the Metro, the 25-year-old was all set to stay at the Allianz Arena despite speculation linking him with a switch to the Premier League. However, it is now being reported by the Metro that the forward has fallen out with manager Pep Guardiola, meaning that an exit may now be back on the cards.
The Metro suggest that Louis van Gaal may test the Bundesliga’s side resolve to keep hold of the striker by making a £56.6m bid. However, Real Madrid are also monitoring the situation.
Despite the new Premier League season looming, van Gaal is yet to add to his goalscoring options. Muller boasts an impressive strike rate for the Bavarian side, and would certainly add some much needed fire power.
And while it may have been previously difficult to imagine him leaving the club where he has spent the last 15 years – having come through the youth ranks – should he decide that he can no longer work with the manager, he may wish to follow his former teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger and make the move from Munich to Manchester.
