Manchester United are hoping to tie up a deal for Morgan Schneiderlin by Monday, so the player is able to join them on their pre-season tour of America.
According to the Daily Star, Louis van Gaal is ready to go back in with a fresh bid, after their first offer was rejected by Southampton.
And the Star suggest that the Red Devils will make every effort to get the deal done as soon as possible to keep him out of Arsenal’s reach and to ensure that he is able to meet up with his new teammates in good time before the new Premier League campaign begins.
The Star report that Ronald Koeman confirmed that the south coast side had received a bid for the Frenchman, but they are not against selling the player should the right offer come in.
“Every player has his price and the club has good experience in selling players because last season we sold some players,” he said.
“If there is in interest in Morgan, let’s have the price the club wants because he is one of the key players of the team, he is an international player but I don’t think it’s a problem for Man United,” the Dutchman added.
Judging by Koeman’s comments, it seems likely that a deal will happen at some point this summer. However, having missed the final games of last season through injury, it is likely that van Gaal will want to have his new man available for as long as possible before their opening game against Tottenham, so he can work out how he fits into the side.
