The agent of Valencia defender Nicolas Otamendi has is said to have jetted into Europe for crunch talks over the player’s future, the Daily Express reports.
Eugenio Lopez has landed in Porto where he will meet with super agent Jorge Mendes, who has apparently been tasked with earning the Argentine a move away from La Liga outfit Valencia this summer.
Reports (via the Express) were claiming on Monday that Otamendi was refusing to return to pre-season training with the club and now Mendes will meet with Lopez in order to expedite a move away from the Mestalla before the squad meet up on July 27.
A report on Spanish site AS.com is now claiming that Lopez and Mendes will now strategise the international’s exit from the club with his two major options likely being Manchester United or Manchester City.
But Valencia are refusing to budge from his £35m asking price, it may still take some negotiation to get him out of there.
United may be spending heavily at the moment, but so far the only defender they have signed is Torino’s Matteo Darmian, meaning they are still light on numbers in the heart of their back line.
