Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes that the signings that the club have made so far during this window, can inspire them to the Premier League title.
The Red Devils have already completed the signings of Memphis Depay, Morgan Schneiderlin, Bastian Schweinsteiger, and Matteo Darmian. And the Metro report that both Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid and Barcelona’s Pedro remain on the radar.
And the 23-year-old suggested that the acquisitions could be enough to inspire Louis van Gaal’s men to silverware in 12 months’ time (via Metro).
When asked if they can win the league, Jones responded: “That’s what we want to be able to do. We have the squad now to be able to do that and there is no reason why we can’t.”
Van Gaal’s first season in charge was challenging at times, as he tried to help the club get over the loss of Sir Alex Ferguson, that they had not managed under David Moyes. However, now he has enjoyed a full summer at the helm, he will be under pressure to end their trophy drought of two years.
And despite the number of marquee names that are already through the door, the Old Trafford outfit need to add a striker, and perhaps add some more depth in defence, hence why Ramos and Pedro are attracting interest.
