Manchester City have announced that Raheem Sterling has become the club’s record signing after completing his long-anticipated move from Liverpool.
The Citizens confirmed on their official website that the winger has become the most expensive English player of all-time, after signing a five-year deal with Manuel Pellegrini’s men. The Daily Mirror previously reported that Sterling’s contract will see him earn £180,000 a week, after the two Premier League sides agreed a £49m fee for the player.
Pellegrini explained that he is very much looking forward to working with the England international.
“He is a young player with outstanding ability, and I am sure the Manchester City fans will be very excited about seeing him in action for the team,” he said.
The statement on City’s website revealed that the former Queens Park Rangers trainee will wear the number seven shirt for his new club, having completed a medical for the Etihad outfit earlier today (via Liverpool Echo). They also explained that the winger will join the rest of his teammates for their pre-season tour of Australia.
