Arsenal could be about to land one of their key transfer targets, after the Metro reported that Real Madrid could be about to accept their bid for Karim Benzema.
The Metro report that the Gunners had expected their offer of £31.3m for the powerful French forward to be turned down, however, Los Blancos have earmarked Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marco Reus as a main target, and plan to use the money they will receive for the former Lyon striker to help fund a move. The Metro suggest that the 26-year-old will cost around £63m.
Despite the fact that the pair offer different things on the pitch – with Benzema acting as a goalscorer, while Reus plays deeper in a playmaker role – Rafael Benitez already appears to have plans in place to fill the void that the 27-year-old shall leave behind.
The Metro previously reported that Cristiano Ronaldo will be utilised in the striker role, which may mean that the German will slot into the position the talisman featured in last season.
But, Arsenal fans will not care too much about how the Bernabeu outfit line up next season as long as it means that Benzema is on his way to the Emirates.
