The agent of Robert Lewandowski has been quick to quash the rumours linking his client with a surprising summer move to Manchester United.
The Daily Star report that Louis van Gaal had wanted to follow up the signing of Bastian Schweinsteiger by going after his Bayern Munich teammate. However, Cezary Kucharski has denied that the Poland international has any plans to leave the Allianz Arena during this window.
“There must be a signal from the club, from Munich,” he said.
“There is no such signal so we are not thinking about it, because even thinking about a change of club would be unfair in my opinion to the current employers,” he explained.
While Kucharski’s message suggests that the 26-year-old will not be on the move this summer, he has hinted that coming to the Premier League may not be out of the question further down the line.
“With a player of Robert’s class, the truth is that not a lot of work is required because really there are only two directions in which he could go in the future, England or Spain, and only with Bayern Munich’s acceptance,” he added.
Having been one of Jurgen Klopp’s key men at Borussia Dortmund, there has been the bizarre suggestion that Lewandowski has struggled since his move to their Bundesliga rivals. He has managed 17 goals in 31 games and just finished in joint-second place in the division’s goalscoring charts.
Louis van Gaal may have been hoping that the negativity surrounding the forward’s performances may have allowed him to swoop in with an offer. However, it appears that Bayern are very much aware of what he is capable of.
