Raheem Sterling finally completed his drawn out £49m move from Liverpool to Manchester City on Tuesday (via Daily Mail) and wasted no time in giving his thoughts on the deal.
Claiming he is now ready to challenge for honours, a hesitant Sterling hopes the move to the Etihad will improve him as a player, though he will have to work hard to justify his price tag as the UK’s most expensive footballer.
The 20-year-old turned down a £100,000 per week offer to stay at Anfield to sign a five-year contract with Manuel Pellegini’s men.
But Sterling thanked former Reds bosses Rafa Benitez and Kenny Dalgleish for helping develop him and even reserved some special thanks for current manager Brendan Rodgers.
