Here is Tuesday’s news and gossip concerning Arsenal:
Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema this summer, but will not pay Los Blancos’ asking price for the 27-year-old, the Daily Mirror report.
The Gunners are hoping that they may be able to do a deal later in the window for a lower fee.
Arsene Wenger appears to be preparing to miss out on Benzema however, as the Metro report that the Paris Saint-Germain star Edinson Cavani is being lined up for a move.
Wenger is hoping that the Uruguayan’s strained relationship with Laurent Blanc will be enough to tempt him towards the Emirates.
They have also received a boost in their pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain, after new Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri reportedly decided to allow the Argentinian to leave this summer, the Metro report.
The former Real Madrid man turned down a new contract, and Sarri apparently doubts whether he will give his best at Stadio San Paolo.
Another target possibly on the move this summer is Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, who has reportedly told Los Blancos he wants to leave, according to the Metro.
The Gunners have bid £14.9m for the Russian, but Liverpool and Villarreal are also in the hunt.
Finally, Manchester United have also joined the race to sign World Cup winning pair and reported Arsenal targets Mario Gotze and Julian Draxler, the Daily Express report.
