Here is Tuesday’s news and gossip concerning Arsenal:
The Gunners are still planning to make a bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, despite the Frenchman making a clear statement about his future, the Metro report.
The 27-year-old posted a picture of himself in the Madrid dressing room on social media and referred to the Bernabeu as home.
The Daily Mirror are claiming that Arsene Wenger has switched his attention to another striker however, and now plans to try and bring Edinson Cavani to the club.
The Mirror suggest however, that a deal could go right down to the wire.
The Gunners may be about to miss out on Cavani’s Paris Saint-Germain teammate, as the Daily Express report that Ezequiel Lavezzi could be heading elsewhere.
Inter Milan are currently holding talks with the Argentina international.
Arsenal appear to be in pole position to land Sevilla midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak, after the Daily Express reported that the Gunners were willing to trigger his release clause.
The Poland international will cost the north London side £21m.
Finally, Arsene Wenger has suggested that he is happy with his options in the holding midfield role in an apparent suggestion that he is not planning to make any more signings in that position, the Daily Express report.
“I think I have enough experience and intelligence to know when it’s right and when it’s wrong,” he said.
