Arsenal reportedly held talks about a possible move for Dynamo Kiev forward Andriy Yarmolenko, according to the Metro.
The Metro suggest a move to Everton was on the cards, while the Daily Mail claimed that Catalan giants Barcelona were also interested in a potential swoop.
However, Arsene Wenger has now put the Gunners in the running after he contacted the Ukraine international directly about a possible move to the Emirates (via Metro).
Following their goalless draw with Liverpool earlier in the week, the north London side appear to be keen to land a new goalscorer before the window shuts. The Metro report that their first target Karim Benzema has quashed speculation about a potential switch to the Premier League, having revealed that he plans to remain at Real Madrid.
While Yarmolenko is not quite of the standard of Benzema, he would prove to be a very useful option to have. And since he would be moving from the Ukrainian top flight, he would surely cost much less than the Frenchman.
