Here is Tuesday’s news and gossip concerning Arsenal:
The Gunners could complete a deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani in the next few days, according to the Daily Telegraph.
The Uruguayan has reportedly fallen out with manager Laurent Blanc, so would be keen on a move away.
However, Cavani’s strike partner is also being linked with a move to the Emirates, after PSG told Zlatan Ibrahimovic that he was free to leave this summer, the Daily Mail report.
The 33-year-old will be available in a cut-price deal, but Manchester United and AC Milan are also interested.
But Arsene Wenger has hinted that he may not be looking to add anymore strikers during this window, the Daily Express report.
“We have good strikers. Walcott was not used today and he’s an exceptional striker, Welbeck is coming back, we have Alexis,” he said following the victory over Crystal Palace.
One of the forwards that Wenger did not mention appears to be on his way out however, after the Daily Express claimed that Joel Campbell is close to leaving the club.
The Costa Rican is closing in on a £7.1m move to Palermo.
Finally, Alexis Sanchez has cemented his reputation as one of the most likeable footballers in the game, after the Metro revealed that he had sent two lorries full of water, first-aid materials, and other supplies to his hometown of Tocopilla after it was decimated by torrential storms.
