Arsenal are reportedly casting an eye towards Monaco after learning that midfielder Joao Moutinho is preparing to hand in a transfer request to leave the club should they fail to make it through to the group stages of the Champions League, according to the Metro.
The Metro claims that The Gunners have held a long standing interest in the Portuguese international, but haven’t been able to prize him away from the Ligue 1 club.
However, having been defeated 3-1 by Spanish giants Valencia during the first leg of their Champions League qualifier earlier this week, Monaco are looking at crashing out of Europe’s premier club competition before it has even started, and if they fail to overturn the deficit Tuttomercatoweb believe he will look to move on by handing in an official transfer request.
Moutinho joined Monaco back in 2013 as part of their rebuilding project upon return to the French top flight, but Arsene Wenger could seek to offer him a route back into the competition if he fails to get there with his current side.
