Arsenal are planning to make a late attempt to bring Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez to the Emirates, according to the Daily Star.
As a team, the Gunners have scored the same amount of goals as the Algeria international has managed on his own so far this season, and Arsene Wenger admitted that he is catching the eye (via Star).
“I can’t predict what will happen,” he insisted.
“I am optimistic and we’re working on it,” he added.
The 24-year-old arrived at the King Power Stadium during their Championship title-winning campaign, and while he was impressive during his first full year with the Foxes, and helped the club retain its top flight status, it is during the opening stages of this season that his form has been good enough to suggest that he could become a very special player.
Claudio Ranieri’s side were tipped by most for the drop before the campaign had begun. However, with four games gone, they have established themselves as one of the early pace-setters and sit third in the table.
Mahrez’s form has been possibly the main reason for their stunning start. He has four goals so far, and has looked set to create something every time he has got onto the ball.
The spark he would bring may be the one that ignites Arsenal’s season.
