Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he doesn’t believe manager Arsene Wenger will sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema this summer, the Daily Express reports.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a £46m move for the France international since the beginning of the transfer window, despite Wenger shooting down talk of an imminent bid following the club’s Community Shield win over Chelsea at the weekend (via The Express).
And now Cazorla has added further fuel to the fire that Arsenal won’t be welcoming the 27-year-old anytime soon, though he did admit that he would be a great signing for the club if he came onboard.
Speaking with Spanish radio station CadenaCOPE, Cazorla said: “I’m not very aware on whether there is any interest or not.
“The manager knows it better than anyone. Benzema is a great player. Every side would like to have him but I think the manager already has his team made and probably he is not looking for another striker.
“Benzema fits into any team. The good players fit well in every side. He has quality and would adapt great.”
