Young Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is set to join Championship side Hull City on loan, where he will link up with fellow young Gunner Isaac Hayden, according to the Daily Express.
It was announced on Friday that Hayden would be joining the relegated Premier League side on a season long loan deal.
And while the club’s official website reported that Arsene Wenger had insisted that Akpom would not be leaving the club on a permanent deal, he has linked up with The Tigers on loan, too.
Akpom had broken into the Arsenal first team on seven occasions across all competitions last term, it is thought that he has been moved out on loan to gain some more valuable first team experience having already joined the likes of Nottingham Forest, Coventry and Brentford in similar stints.
But could his exit indicate that a new striker is close to joining Arsenal? After impressing in his cameo appearances last term, it would be easy to assume that he would continue his assimilation into the first team this season. Only a new, more established face would block his path, and this could suggest that Wenger is ready to finally open up his chequebook to bring in some added firepower.
