Thiago Motta could be about to disappoint both Arsenal and Liverpool, by extending his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, according to the Daily Express.
The 32-year-old’s current deal at Parc des Princes expires at the end of the season, which had attracted the interest of the Premier League pair – as well as two of his former clubs Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid (via Express) – who were perhaps hoping to lure him to England either during this window for a fee, or next summer for nothing.
However, the Express report that he has now entered talks with the Ligue 1 side about an extension, and is expected to sign.
While the Italy international is now enjoying the twilight of his career, there is little question that he would have brought something to both the Reds and the Gunners, had they managed to sign him.
He is best deployed as a playmaker, and is able to play the most exquisite passes. However, he is also capable of playing in a position where his primary role is to protect the back four.
