Arsenal are said to be ramping up their efforts to sign Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema by putting together an offer that would see him become the club’s highest earner, according to the Metro.
The Frenchman is now thought to be Arsenal’s number one priority this summer as Arsene Wenger is keen to bring on board a world class striker to help the club push Chelsea all the way in the league this season.
And with a deal still in the works, Wenger will attempt to persuade the 27-year-old to swap Madrid for London by making him the club’s highest paid player, meaning he would earn more than the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott, who are all reported to be on £140,000-per-week.
Now that Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has decided to stay with the Bundesliga club, the club will now make an offer for Benzema in the coming days.
