Arsenal may have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, after the Metro reported that Los Blancos’ president Florentino Perez was considering the possibility of selling him this summer.
The La Liga giants are happy to let the 27-year-old leave the Bernabeu during this window, but only if they manage to lure Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero back to the Spanish capital, four years after the Argentinian left Atletico, the Metro report.
Perez considers the current holder of the Premier League’s golden boot as an upgrade on the former Lyon man, and would not stand in Benzema’s way if an acceptable bid came in (via Metro).
The news may seem positive for Gunners fans, but with the transfer window’s closure fast approaching, there seems to be too much that has to be done for Arsene Wenger to land the Real Madrid’s man’s signature.
With Eden Dzeko leaving Eastlands this summer, Manuel Pellegrini has just Aguero and Wilfried Bony to call upon, making it seem like City would only contemplate selling their prized asset if they also managed to find an adequate replacement before they allow the striker merry-go-round to begin.
