Chelsea have been handed a boost in their reported pursuit of Juventus star Paul Pogba, after the Daily Express reported that the Serie A champions had agreed a deal to sign a potential replacement.
The Old Lady have agreed an £8m fee with Inter Milan for their midfielder Hernanes, which may leave the door open for the Blues to complete a move to bring Pogba to Stamford Bridge (via Express).
The Express suggest that the 22-year-old appears to be interested in a move back to the Premier League, having asked for a contract that would see him pocket £300,000 a week.
And while Hernanes’ arrival may make it easier for Massimiliano Allegri’s side to get over the loss of Pogba, the Brazilian is arguably a more direct replacement for another of the midfielders that have left Juventus Stadium already this summer, Andrea Pirlo.
He has a composure on the ball and a passing ability which may remind supporters of the Italian great. And those same fans will be hoping that he is playing alongside Pogba this season, rather than filling the void that the Chelsea target leaves behind.
