Chelsea are said to be ramping up their interest in Paris Saint Germain full-back Gregory van der Weil, according to Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio.
The Dutchman’s agent, Mino Raiola, was said to be in London on Thursday and the popular Italian reporter claims that The Blues do hold an interest in the 27-year-old.
Di Marzio hints Van der Weil is unlikely to be the club’s first choice full-back next term, but the Ligue 1 champions are still keen to offer him an extended deal to keep him at the Parc des Princes.
PSG are likely to go with Serge Aurier as their right-back for the 2015/2016 season and van der Wiel has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United.
The report also claims that Chelsea have already held discussions with Raiola over a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the super agent is in London at the moment to discuss the Dutch defender’s future.
With Branislav Ivanovic receiving heavy criticism for his performances so far this term, it is thought that Mourinho could look to bring in his successor sooner than first thought.
