Chelsea are said to be in the mix to sign Monaco full-back Layvin Kurzawa before the close of the transfer window, despite having just brought in Abdul Baba Rahman, the Metro reports.
The speedy left-back is also on the radar of Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain, but a report in French publication Le10Sport is claiming that The Blues are hopeful of beating them to his signature.
The Metro go on to suggest that Cesar Azpilicueta will usurp Branislav Ivanovic at right-back in the coming weeks, leaving Mourinho hopeful of landing Kurzawa to battle it out with Baba Rahman for the left-back slot.
Kurzawa currently has two caps with the French national side, but had been earmarked by the Polish FA, who attempted to convince him to switch allegiances due to his mother’s Polish roots (via Eurosport Poland).
The 22-year-old has shown the potential to become a world class player, and is already attracting attention from a number of the game’s biggest clubs, as well as nearly sparking an international tug of war for his services. He has been a regular fixture in recent seasons despite his young age and has already made 76 appearances for Monaco since breaking through to the first team back in 2010.
