Premier League champions Chelsea are said to have been placed on high alert after finding out that he has informed Napoli of his intention to leave this summer, the Metro reports.
The Argentine’s future in southern Italy has been on a knife edge all summer as reports have consistently claimed that he is looking to move with a possible move to England being mooted.
And now, a report in the Daily Express claims that he has told Napoli officials that he definitely intends to leave before the transfer window slams shut, and Chelsea have been alerted to his potential availability.
Despite bringing Radamel Falcao in on loan, The Blues have been linked with a number of strikers over the summer as there are continued concerns over Diego Costa’s fitness while Loic Remy’s future has also been cast into doubt.
However, if Chelsea want to bag Higuain’s signature, they will have to pay the £66m release fee set in his contract.
