Chelsea may have already added Augsburg defender Baba Rahman over the past couple of days (via BBC Sport), but it appears that Jose Mourinho is keen to further strengthen his resources on the left-hand side of defence.
According to the Daily Star, the Premier League champions have made a £5m bid for Galatasaray full-back Alex Telles. However, the Turkish side rejected the offer, believing that the promising Brazilian should command a much higher price, the Star report.
While the Blues have already added the Ghana international, and thus, now have two fantastic options on the left, including Cesar Azpilicueta, the move for Telles could suggest Mourinho is planning something of a reshuffle across his back four.
The Stamford Bridge side have already conceded five goals from their first two games of the new season, and in particular, Branislav Ivanovic has looked particularly vulnerable against the pace of Jefferson Montero of Swansea and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling.
The Serbian’s struggles could see Azpilicueta utilised in his more natural position of right-back, while Rahman and Telles battle for a place on the left.
