Chelsea could be set for a late £100m spending spree on Everton’s John Stones and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, according to the Metro.
The Blues have endured a disappointing start to their title defence, and it is now believed that owner Roman Abramovic will open his chequebook to back Jose Mourinho in getting their campaign off the ground.
The Russian billionaire is reported by the Daily Star to have told Mourinho to do whatever is necessary to ensure the Premier League trophy remains at Stamford Bridge.
And it is assumed that the club will splash out a stunning £60m on highly-sought after Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, while making a remaining £40m available to finally complete a move for Everton youngster John Stones.
Chelsea have been linked with Pogba’s signature before, but after Juve sold Arturo Vidal this month it was thought that Pogba would be going nowhere.
However, the Italian champions may find £60m difficult to turn down, and with time still to find a replacement, there may be hope that a deal can be struck after all.
