John Stones is ready to submit a transfer request to try and force through a move to Chelsea, according to the Metro.
The Toffees are determined to keep hold of the promising 21-year-old, despite the fact that Stones has spoken to Roberto Martinez about making the switch to Stamford Bridge, the Metro claim.
And the England international is now considering whether to make it publicly known that he wishes to join the Premier League champions, the Metro report.
The Blues have already made three bids for the centre-back, and the Metro suggest that it could take as much as £40m before Jose Mourinho finally gets his man.
Stones has received plenty of plaudits so far this season as, despite the speculation, he has notched up a series of impressive performances. However, a transfer request is likely to damage his relationship with Everton’s fans even if he remains with the club beyond this summer, regardless of whether he continues his impressive form.
