David de Gea is desperate to seal a move to Real Madrid before Tuesday’s deadline, as he fears that staying at Manchester United may scupper his chances of playing at Euro 2016, the Daily Mirror report.
The 24-year-old has yet to be included in any of Louis van Gaal’s squads so far this season as talk of a move to the Bernabeu continues, and he fears that without a deal being struck with Los Blancos, he stands to spend the entirety of next summer’s tournament as Iker Casillas’ understudy (via Mirror).
While van Gaal has previously claimed that he would consider bringing the former Atletico Madrid star back into contention to battle with current number one Sergio Romero once the transfer window closes, the Mirror highlight that he has a chequered history with goalkeepers at several clubs throughout his career, including a stance that led to his dismissal from Bayern Munich.
The Mirror report that he decided against backing the Bavarian side’s move for Manuel Neuer in 2011 – despite his stunning performances in the previous year’s World Cup – and de Gea appears to be concerned that he is the next name to fall foul of van Gaal’s treatment, and his exile from the squad will continue.
