Stoke City are closing in on a sensational move to sign Inter Milan star Xherdan Shaqiri, after the Switzerland international underwent a medical and agreed personal terms at the Britannia Stadium.
The Guardian previously reported that the Potters had been interested in the 23-year-old earlier in the summer, but Mark Hughes had subsequently stated that the deal was off.
However, speculation took little time to restart again once the former Bayern Munich man was seen in the crowd during the club’s opening game of the new Premier League season against Liverpool, with the Guardian suggesting that a £12m move was in the offing.
And now Sky Sports News HQ have confirmed that the formalities of the deal have been taken care of, which would suggest that the move shall be completed imminently.

While the playmaker has not quite hit the heights expected of him since making the move to the Allianz Arena, there is little question that he has a stunning amount of quality and will be a tremendous signing for Hughes’ side, who have already made several marquee signings over the past couple of years, including Bojan Krkic and Ibrahim Afellay.
