Chelsea have announced on their official website that they have completed a deal to sign Barcelona winger Pedro.
According to BBC Sport, the Blues agreed a £21m fee for the 28-year-old, who was also being chased by Manchester United during this window.
However, it is Jose Mourinho that has won the race to sign the Spaniard, who has won the La Liga title five times, the Champions League three times, and has been a part of the Spain squad that won the European Championship in 2012, and the World Cup in 2010.
And he explained that he intended to continue to win silverware at Stamford Bridge (via Chelsea’s official website).
“I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles,” he said.
The move is likely to give Mourinho’s side a huge boost after a difficult start to their Premier League title defence. A draw on the opening day against Swansea was followed up by a comfortable defeat to Manchester City, leaving the Blues five points behind the Citizens after just two games.
However, their chances of retaining their title will have certainly increased following Pedro’s arrival.
