Liverpool’s hopes of landing Barcelona youngster Adama Traore have suffered a setback, after the Metro reported that Everton have joined the race to sign the 19-year-old.
The Reds were in pole position to sign the winger, the Metro report, after officials flew out to Spain to try and tie up a deal.
However, their Merseyside neighbours have registered an interest, and are hoping to use the good relationship they enjoy with the Catalan giants – having already signed Gerard Delofeu on a permanent basis during this window – will be enough to get a move across the line (via Metro).
The Metro report that it was in fact their new signing’s recommendation that prompted Roberto Martinez to get involved in the battle to sign Traore.
The Toffees boast several midfielders that are able to play in wide positions, and a couple of attackers – like Delofeu and Kevin Mirallas – who are also comfortable on the wing. However, they have very few options who will stick to the touchline, and make darting runs, which Traore will be able to offer them.
