Everton midfielder Darron Gibson has hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons on Wednesday morning after he was arrested in connection with a hit and run incident that saw a cyclist injured, the BBC reports.
Gibson, who has yet to make an appearance in the Everton first team this season, stands accused of hitting a cyclist while he was supposedly over the limit behind the wheel of a car.
And to make matters worse, having hit the man on the bike, he is then said to have driven away from the scene.
The report then states that following his collision with the cyclist he then drove into a pump at a nearby petrol station.
Gibson will now have to appear before Trafford Magistrates’ Court on 1 September.
The Sun also claims that Gibson was driving a £125,000 Nissan Skyline GT-R Nismo, with the incident reportedly happened at 9.45 am on Sunday.
The star was held in cells for several hours before being charged with drink driving, driving without due care and attention and failing to stop after an accident, The Sun added.
