Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere could be in line for a further setback as his ankle injury appears to be worse than first feared, according to the Daily Express.
The midfielder sustained a knock in training over the weekend, but the Daily Mail is now reporting that scans have shown that he may have suffered a hairline fracture.
Arsenal are now sweating on the final results, which will be available at the end of the week, and if he requires more surgery he could face another three months out on the sidelines.
The Gunners had previously stated that Wilshere was set to miss the beginning of the season anyway, but would return following the international break in September (via The Express).
This is just the latest in a long line of injury woes the England international has suffered, having only just returned from ankle ligament damage in May following a challenge by Man United’s Paddy McNair back in November.
Many must now be wondering if Wilshere will ever fulfil his potential if his rotten luck with injuries persists, or if he will follow a similar path to Abou Diaby by spending the majority of his time with the club in the sick bay.
